Trigence Appoints Robert Collins to Board of Directors

Former Cognos CIO brings valuable customer perspective to the table

Ottawa, ON - November 23, 2004 - Trigence Corp., a leader in application virtualization technology, today announced the appointment of Robert Collins to its Board of Directors. Collins is the former Chief Information Officer of Cognos, a leader in business intelligence solutions.

"Rob's experience as a CIO and his contacts will help accelerate Trigence's penetration into the application virtualization market," said Chuck Colford, president and CEO of Trigence. "He brings the customer's voice to the board table and we are delighted to have the opportunity to learn from him."

A software industry veteran with over 25 years of on-the-ground experience, Collins recently retired from Cognos. As CIO, he led the evolution of IT at Cognos by achieving greater automation and integration of IT systems and better aligning those systems with business processes. Collins implemented significant enhancements to business systems and services without an increase in overall spending. During his time at Cognos, Collins also served as vice president, query and reporting products, with product development and product management responsibility for one of the cornerstones of the company's business intelligence suite of products.

"As a former CIO, I understand the value of Trigence's containerization approach to managing data center applications," said Mr. Collins. "The ability to turn an application into a highly manageable object has real benefits for enhancing service levels, better managing application lifecycles and preparing for on-demand delivery. I look forward to helping Trigence better understand and communicate with CIOs and other senior IT managers in order to help the company succeed in the emerging market for application virtualization."

Trigence uses a unique container approach to virtualizing applications for increased data center agility and decreased costs. Trigence AE captures applications and their dependencies in secure software containers, decoupling the application from the operating system and underlying infrastructure. As a result, applications can be easily and rapidly dragged and dropped from one server to another as highly manageable objects.

"Rob Collins brings to Trigence a deep understanding of the issues and challenges facing today's CIO and where those CIOs will be focusing their efforts and spending over the next several years," said Ron Warburton, director, BDC Venture Capital and Trigence Chairman. "Rob is an excellent addition to the Trigence team and we are very pleased to welcome him to the board."
